Growing local healthcare

We know that accessible, high quality healthcare is important to Canberrans. The ACT Government is committed to growing local healthcare and providing better access to services people can rely on.

The 2018 Budget will boost Canberra’s frontline healthcare with a major new investment of $1.7 billion a year by 2021-22 in our hospitals and local health services and $157 million over four years for better access to specialised mental health care.

Better healthcare

Delivering accessible, high quality healthcare is one of the ACT Government’s top priorities. We already invest around $10,000 a year for every Canberra household to deliver quality care in our hospitals and local health services. The 2018 Budget will deliver a significant boost to frontline staff and services.

More mental health care

We are growing frontline mental health services so that more Canberrans can access the specialised care they need, close to home. The 2018 Budget delivers more supported accommodation options for people with complex mental health needs, and a boost to the targeted services that support teenagers, older people and those transitioning out of the justice system health.
