The 2018 Budget will see a step up in city services, delivering tidier suburbs with more trees and parks, playgrounds and public spaces Canberrans can continue to be proud of.

The ACT Government maintains over 2,532 kilometres of footpaths and 1,048 kilometres of on and off road cycle pathways. We have added 5.5 kilometres of new off road bike paths just this year. Our suburbs are dotted with 280 hectares of irrigated ovals and 505 playgrounds.

Green bins

The ACT Government has committed to provide every suburb in Canberra with optional green bins for garden waste.

The pilot scheme has already rolled out green bins to over 9,000 households in Kambah and Weston Creek, almost 12,000 households in Tuggeranong. Belconnen is planned for September 2018, followed by the remaining roll out across Canberra.

Upgrading ovals across Canberra

The ACT Government will revitalise Higgins Neighbourhood Oval, including providing a new pavilion on site.

We will resurface Nicholls Oval to provide better facilities for local schools and the community.

We will also re-open Boomanulla Oval in Narrabundah and increase the irrigation of local playing fields across Canberra.

In this budget: more mowing, weeding, removing graffiti, cleaning waterways & tree trimming, deliveriung on our election commitment to plant an additional 1,330 trees, more rangers to improve animal management & responsible pet ownership and delivering services to Canberra's new communities, both infill & new estates
