New ACT Courts

The Government will redevelop the Supreme Court building and integrate it with the existing Magistrates Court building. The project will be delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with financial close anticipated for late 2015 and availability payments likely to commence approximately two years later. The Government has included an Infrastructure Investment Provision for the new facility in the 2014 15 Budget. Should the Government conclude a suitable agreement to deliver the project through a PPP, the central provision will be removed upon financial close of the project. At that point the recurrent costs of the project (expected to be principally an annual availability payment to the operator of the facility) will be included in the forward estimates. Total estimated investment is not reported due to commercial sensitivities. The Government has invested a total of $5.476 million as funding for the Public Private Partnership to redevelop the Supreme Court building and integrate it with the existing Magistrates Court building to provide an integrated Courts Facility.
